Challenge your senses and explore the top of the Andes. During six days, you will hike through seven mountain passes, traveling through astonishingly remote places.
Cross different ecological levels, from arid highlands to lush valleys. Walk along ancient Inca trails, and wander through native forests and abandoned ruins with dramatic views of the snow-capped Sacred Salkantay, glaciers, and beautiful lakes.
Acclimatize to the altitude of the Andes with a first day of slightly easy and short-distance hiking.
Our starting point is Soraypampa, where the muleteers will welcome you. They, along with their horses, will carry the equipment along the route.
Visit this community and enjoy the first view of the Apu Salkantay, which will surprise you with its imposing beauty. Then, descend to Ichupata, our first campsite.
Meals: Lunch and dinner.
This morning it is time to climb to the highest point of the entire route, the Incachiriasca Mountain Pass. You will be dazzled by the beautiful view of the highlands, one of the most arid and remote areas of the Andes.
Finally, you will descend to the Toqto Community.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Today is a magical day. You will cross four interconnected mountain passes with relatively short distances and altitudes between them.
Walk along the top of the Andes bordering the passes of Toqtocasa, Cruzcasa, Qellocasa, and Chusquiñay, and be energized by the magnificent views from the top of these mountains.
Finally, you will descend to Mancanpucro and enjoy one more night camping in this isolated area.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Continue ascending through the highlands crossing two mountain passes, the Qeracasa and Accojasa, where the peaks of the snow-capped Huayanay will reward us with their thrilling presence.
Then descend to the ruins of Inca Rakay. Explore this small archaeological center, built during the time of the Incas in the fifteenth century.
You will camp a short distance away, while enjoying another beautiful night under the stars.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Today the trail invites you to cross the Huayanay Pass. You will descend the slopes of this imposing mountain until you enter a valley that is home to the gorgeous Ancascocha Lake.
Walk along sections of an ancient and original Inca trail amidst stunning natural scenery. This area is the condor´s habitat, a bird sacred in the Andean cosmovision. If you are lucky, you will see one flying.
Finally, you will reach the small community of Ancascocha, the location of the last camp of the trek.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
A continuous descent will take you to the final point of this trek, leaving behind the arid highlands to enter a valley of exquisite and abundant Andean flora and countless hummingbirds.
Walk alongside the confluence of three rivers and suddenly you will be amazed by the spectacular beauty and imposing presence of the snow-capped Verónica.
Gradually, this valley becomes a narrow canyon that leads to the Sillque River towards the town of Camincancha, in the Chilca Valley, the end of the hike.
Meals: Breakfast and lunch.

Cusco
Originally designed in the shape of a puma, Cusco was once the site of Coricancha, the Incan temple of the sun and holy centerpiece of the empire. It was stripped of all the gold covering its walls and mostly destroyed by the Spanish, who built churches and palaces on top. Remnants of the temple and mysterious Inca city still remain along Cusco’s colonial period architecture.
As one of the oldest continually inhabited cities in South America, Cusco is surrounded by archaeological sites. Sacsayhuaman is the most impressive with its zigzag stone tiers and can be reached on foot from town. This Inca fortress and religious center offers a great view of Cusco and Plaza de Armas, where the immense 17th century Cusco Cathedral stands.
Back in town, walk up the ancient Inca street, Hathunrumiyoc, to see the famous 12-angled stone set into one of the best surviving Inca walls, then be rewarded with the cafes, restaurants, bars and specialty shops of the San Blas neighborhood, aka the artisan quarter. Another Cusco must-see is the San Pedro market, a maze of aisles jam-packed with food stands and vendors of every kind.
Cusco Through A Camera Lens
Explore the ancient capital of the Inca empire in Cusco with Diego del Río, a renowned Peruvian
photographer.
While learning about composition and photographic lighting, visit an Inca fortress, ceremonial centers,
and sites of offerings until you come across an ancient Inca trail that will lead you directly to the main
square after passing by the bohemian district of San Blas. The main square is where over thirty thousand
kilometers of roads connecting the empire merge.
Have lunch at a restaurant in town while you edit and select the best images of the morning.
Then, photograph the lifestyle and architecture of Cusco city, recognized by UNESCO as a world
heritage of humanity for its characteristic charm.
Witness how the sunset rays shine upon the Andean faces that could cross in front of your lens while
walking between Inca stone walls and beautiful colonial houses.
A Golden Dinner
When the night falls, the Museum of Pre-Columbian Art will open the doors of its “Golden
Saloon” exclusively for you. We will take you on a sensorial journey three thousand years back into ancient
Peru, experiencing its history and flavors.
A collection of ceremonial relics and gold jewelry will transport you to the glorious past of the
Inca Empire, its worldview, and its relationship with this divine metal. Meanwhile, we will delight you with
a 7-course meal made with exceptional ingredients from the different regions of the ancient Inca
Empire.

About Machu Picchu
Thirteen degrees south of the equator, the Incan citadel of Machu Picchu rises above the Urubamba river valley on a steep ridge between the towering peaks of Huayna and Machu Picchu mountains – both of which can be hiked for incredible views. One of the few major pre-Columbian ruins found nearly intact, this UNESCO World Heritage site and spiritual destination was built for Inca ruler Pachacuti during the 15th century and once housed over 600 residents.
An architectural marvel by all standards, its 200 stone structures were constructed without mortar or iron tools. We still don’t know how they moved huge stone slabs without wheeled carts and shaped them so perfectly. The brilliantly engineered design reveals the Incas had a sophisticated understanding of astronomy and agriculture. But what exactly they were doing up there remains a mystery to this day.

temples, fountains, monuments, and residences of the most important religious, political, and cultural
center of the Empire.
Optionally, climb to the summit of Huayna Picchu Mountain* or the top of Machu Picchu Mountain, two
natural viewpoints with striking views of the entire citadel.

Step into Machu Picchu and discover one of the most remarkable legacies of the Inca Empire. Built in the 15th century during the reign of Inca Pachacútec, the citadel functioned as an important ceremonial, agricultural, and astronomical center, carefully integrated into the dramatic Andean landscape that surrounds it.
As you walk through plazas, temples, terraces, fountains, and ancient stone pathways, the precision of Inca engineering becomes evident at every turn. Surrounded by cloud forests and towering peaks, Machu Picchu reveals a civilization deeply connected to nature and Andean cosmology.
Rising directly behind the citadel, Huayna Picchu offers one of the most spectacular vantage points in the sanctuary. Following steep Inca stone trails and narrow terraces, the hike leads to extraordinary panoramic views over Machu Picchu and the winding Urubamba River canyon below. From its summit, the scale of the sanctuary and the immensity of the surrounding Andes unfold from a truly privileged perspective.

Iquitos
Accessed by boat or plane, Iquitos is perhaps the world’s largest, most isolated, city that cannot be reached by an actual road. Originally a Jesuit station, it serves as a gateway to the northernmost part of the Peruvian Amazon and has become popular with inner-peace seekers looking for an Ayahuasca experience. The town’s Belén district is known for its huge open-air market and stilt houses lining the Itaya river. The main square, Plaza de Armas, in the historic center of town, is surrounded by European-style mansions, dating back to the area’s turn-of-the-20th-century rubber boom, left behind by jungle barons.
